4th of July #MOTD

Hey there cuties! It’s been a looooong time since I’ve last posted. This semester has seriously gone by so fast; I feel like it just started yesterday and now I graduate in 15 days!!!  I can’t think about it too much or else I’ll lose all motivation to do anything for the next two weeks.

Anyways, I played around with my makeup for the first time in a while and I ended up really loving it! It’s also been a while since I’ve had to photograph myself to try and make my makeup look good, so it was a little awkward haha but here it is:

I actually saw this look on Pinterest so I decided to try it out and it worked out surprisingly well. I have a little bit of red eyeshadow on my lids mostly focused in my crease (which I was super nervous about but ended up loving), a black winged liner (of course), a blue liner along my lower water line, a dark blue liner and shadow smudged along my lower lash line, then a stark white shadow concentrated in the inner corners of my eyes! As well as a brow highlight, but you can’t see it very well in these pictures.

The next thing I was super proud of was my lipstick! I used to never wear just regular lipstick because I was so in love with how long lasting liquid lipstick is. However, I absolutely love the new lipstick I picked up from Milani Cosmetics. I completely filled in my lips with their Colour Statement Lipliner in 02 True Red and then topped it off with their matte lipstick in 68 Matte Iconic. I think the lipliner has a little more pink in it than the lipstick, but they’re still super similar and work great together!

Overall, my 4th of July was pretty great! I mean, besides my car breaking down while carpooling with our neighbors, making it so that six people had to cram into a small five-person car to get home, everything else went pretty well! The sunset and fireworks were gorgeous, I ran into some friends I hadn’t seen in forever, the doughnuts were freaking delicious, and my husband and I bought light-up squid hats. Not sure how it could have gotten better than that!

I hope your 4th of July was fabulous, and even if you don’t celebrate the 4th of July I hope you had a fabulous day! Hope you see you again soon 🙂

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer Review

Hey cuties! I finally got to try out the Butter Bronzer by Physicians Formula and I’m here to tell you all about it! I’ve wanted to get my hands on this for a looong time and I’m so glad I finally have it. It comes in two shades, Light Bronzer and Bronzer, and you’d think that I would have the Light Bronzer because I’m so pale, but I just have the normal Bronzer. They haven’t had the Light Bronzer at my Walmart for a while now and I was so tired of waiting I decided just to grab the Bronzer and return it if it ended up being way too dark. Luckily for me, it isn’t too dark! I’ve seen the lighter one before and I remember them looking very similar…so I’m not quite sure why there are two shades. Anyways, let’s get into it!

As always, I’d like to start with the claims made on the back of the box, and there is a lot of claims about this product!

Brazilian Luxury

  •  Ultra-luxurious bronzer, infused with Murumuru Butter, delivers a radiant Brazilian Goddess Glow!
  • Moisturizing wonder features ultra-refined pearls and soft-focus pigments that smooth skin texture, brighten skin tone and deliver a gorgeous bronze finish.

Skin-Pampering Bronzer

  • Ultra-rich bronzer instantly melts into skin, sealing-in moisture to deliver instant and lasting hydration.
  • Incredibly creamy and soft texture combines the best features of a powder and cream bronzer to deliver a lit-from-within tropical glow unlike any other.
  • Featuring a unique sponge applicator specially designed to be used with creamy bronzer formula.

Skin-Loving Blend

  • Infused with a powerful blend of Murumuru Butter, Cupuacu Butter and Tucuma Butter, from the lush, nutrient-rich Amazon. Packed with essential fatty acids and pro-vitamins that soften, condition and moisturize skin, leaving it silky soft.

Overall, this product claims to give you a radiant lit-from-within, tropical, Brazilian Goddess Glow, moisturize, smooth out skin’s texture, melt into skin for lasting hydration, and soften skin.

I really love this product, but I don’t know if I’d say it meets all these claims. It definitely gives a subtle, gorgeous glow, blends effortlessly and smooths out skin, but I haven’t noticed any kind of moisturizing/hydrating effect, which is what the back of the box seems to really focus on.

This bronzer feels really good, it really does feel creamy and silky even though it’s a powder. It also smells amazing. I want to just rub it on my face all day so that I can smell it forever. Even the makeup brush I’ve been using to apply this smells like it and it makes me so happy!

I haven’t used the sponge that comes with the Butter Bronzer; I’ve been using my Real Techniques Powder Brush which I think is perfect, but the sponge does feel really good. It’s very soft, bouncy, smooth, and the product feels very soft on top of it. So even though this isn’t my first choice of applicator I’m sure it would work just fine, it may be a little difficult to blend with it though.

I was so excited about this bronzer that I decided to make it the main focus of my look today.

I forgot to take pictures right after I finished my makeup so by the time this picture was taken I had already had my makeup on for around seven hours, I worked out in it, walked around in the heavy wind, laid down, etc. So my makeup definitely doesn’t look its best and the lighting really doesn’t do this bronzer any justice anyways, but I’m going to pretend that it does because I loved the simpleness of my makeup today.

I feel like every time I wear this bronzer it makes my skin look better than than it really is, so I definitely stand by the, “ultra-refined pearls and soft-focus pigments that smooth skin texture.” Overall I think this bronzer is amazing. However, if you have skin that’s a lot darker than mine, or even skin that’s just naturally tan, this may not show up on you. It’s a very subtle bronzer.

Major Monday Haul

Hello cuties! My husband and I went shopping at a couple of stores yesterday and I’m here to tell you what I got! As I’ve mentioned before, my husband graduated last week and his family was in town, and while they were in town his mom gave both Jaren and I graduation money. My graduation money is technically for July when I actually graduate, but she gave it to me now because she’s not going to be able to make it in July. She’s too sweet. 🙂 I used some of my graduation money this weekend to help me towards my fitness goals in a sense, and I used some “gift cards” my husband made me for Valentine’s Day to go to buy some makeup, since one of the gift cards was for $20 of makeup haha. The stores we went to were Footlocker, Victoria’s Secret, Lowes, and Ulta, so let’s get into it!

We went to Footlocker because both Jaren and I were in desperate need of some new tennis shoes. My shoes were 3 or 4 years old and I’ve done a lot of running and lifting in them. I have no idea how often you’re supposed to replace lifting shoes, but I know for running shoes you’re supposed to replace them every 6-ish months or 400-500 miles, so my shoes were wayyyy past due! The new shoes I bought were the Nike Free 5.0 TR Flyknits. They’re normally $130, but this specific colour was on sale for $85! I got to save $45! This is the description of these shoes from Nike’s website:

The Nike Free TR 5 Flyknit Women’s Training Shoe ups the ante with a new, lightweight Flyknit upper that adapts to the shape of your foot, offering a locked-down feel for cardio, strength training and other gym workouts that demand flexibility and support.

I lifted in them yesterday and they felt pretty good! My feet were a little sore after the workout but that’s just because they’re not broken in yet, but by the way they feel I can tell it won’t take very long!

The next place we went to was Victoria’s Secret where I bought this sports bra! I’ve needed a new sports bra for a looooong time now, most of mine were left over from like middle school / early high school and were super tight and uncomfortable. This one feels great! I haven’t ran in it so there’s not much I can say about that, but it was fine to lift in. It is slightly padded, shaped, and I don’t know if I would say it has thick straps, but definitely thicker straps than a normal bra!

The next place we went was Lowes! Jaren and I have been working on a little garden and filling our apartment up with potted plants, so this time we decided to buy two plant pots and some flowers to put in the ends of them, that way we could put all of our other plants and seeds in the rest of the pot. In the flower box with the pink flowers we ended up putting two different types of basil that were already grown as well as planting two brand new types of basil. In the flower box with the yellow and orange flowers we planted lettuce and spinach! I’m so excited for our little flower boxes to look like salads haha.

The last place we went to was Ulta! NYX was having a buy two get one free sale so I decided to buy a lot of NYX items I had wanted to try out for a while! I bought two wooden lip pencils in the sades Nude Pink & Plum, a Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in the shade Tea & Cookies, Pump it up Lip Plumper in Elizabeth (which is my middle name!), the Matte Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray, and Sharpener. I haven’t used very many of them yet so I can’t really give much of a review, but here are the swatches:

Left to right: Plum lip liner, Nude Pink lip liner, Tea & Cookies liquid suede lip cream, and Elizabeth lip plumper.

From what I’ve noticed so far, the NYX suede lip cream doesn’t dry down nearly as much as I thought it would and it’s actually kind of tacky like a gloss. It doesn’t doesn’t smell like the soft matte lip creams which made me really sad. The NYX matte spray felt really good and helped my makeup stay on all day! I went on a short hike, planted some things outside, wore glasses, and my makeup hardly moved and I never got shiny! My glasses did take some of my makeup off but not nearly as much as normal. I really like the lip pencils so far, and I like the tingling feeling of the lip plumper but I don’t think it really did any plumping…I’ll have to play around with everything a little more to give you my final verdict on the products. 🙂

Kiss Ever EZ Eyelashes No. 3 Review

Hey there cuties!! Last week was crazy because it was finals week, my husband graduated, and his family was in town, so I was super busy all week and up really late every night. Therefore there were only two posts last week, but this week is my Spring break so I hope to be posting everyday and actually form some kind of a blogging schedule! Anyways, today’s post is about the fake eyelashes I picked up at Walgreens over the weekend. Not only are they affordable but this is my first time ever wearing fake eyelashes so it’s also a first impression / new style for me. Let’s get into it!

The lashes I picked up were the Number 3 Kiss Ever EZ Eyelashes. I was worried about trying them out because I had never heard of them before but they had great reviews on influenster and amazon so I figured they couldn’t be too bad! I chose number 3 because they looked the most subtle out of the choices there and I didn’t want it to be super obvious I was wearing fake eyelashes. I think dramatic lashes are gorgeous, but I know I would have been super self-conscious wearing them. Here is one of the lashes!

Left side: fake lashes, Right side: natural lashes

I took a picture with one eye having the fake lashes and the other eye having my natural lashes so that you could see how the lashes changed my look. I never realized how much fuller my eyelashes would look with falsies! I know that’s weird because that’s kind of the point of them, but it still shocked me.

This was my whole look for Sunday. I love how much fuller and longer my lashes look while still looking moderately natural!

So I didn’t apply the one on the left side very well haha but I think I did pretty well for my first time ever wearing false lashes! I also think I may have put them too close to the inner corner of my eye because they bothered me for the first hour or two I had them on, but 9 hours later I could barely feel them when my eyes were open. I could still kind of feel them when I closed my eyes, and they were definitely uncomfortable when I squeezed my eyes shut, but they weren’t too bad.

The next day I tried to apply them closer to the outer corners of my eyes and the lashes on my left eye felt amazing! I couldn’t feel them at all until after several hours of wearing them but that could be because I’m still not used to them. The lashes on my right eye, however, were still too close to my inner corner and bothered me pretty much all day, but so far I really like them. I’ll definitely have to practice putting them on more and maybe resize them for them to feel really good all day, but I’m excited for these!

BONUS: I wore the lashes while working out and they stayed on! I didn’t sweat nearly as much as normal, but I don’t think that would have affected my lashes at all.

This is what the products look like when you buy them! I bought the glue separately because I needed some lash glue, and I think it works pretty well! I have some trouble getting the inner corners of the lashes to stick, but I know very little about lash glue so it could just be that I’m not putting enough glue on the lashes or I’m not waiting long enough for them to dry. Overall I really like both of the products and would recommend them if you want to try out false lashes!

Thank you for stopping by and checking out my post! Comment down below whether or not you like these lashes and if you know of any others I should try 🙂 Also like and subscribe if you’d like to see more posts like this one!

Hair Transformation and My Most Recent Salon Visit!

Hey there cuties!! I’ve needed a trim forever. I’m been complaining to my husband about it for months so I finally set up an appointment for today. I had a ton of split ends, my hair was really dry, it was starting to get hard to manage, and I was terrified of blow drying it and making it worse. I went to Reflections Salon because I’ve been their before and really like their work! Granted, all I was getting was a trim, but I’ve has salons mess up a trim before. How? I’m not quite sure, but Reflections did a great job with mine and they made my hair so soft!!

This is how my hair looked right after the appointment, which is pretty much how it always looks, except healthier. 😉  Normally I would ask for them to curl it but I was planning on hiking later so I didn’t really see the point.

Here is a picture of how long it is now and what I changed into to go hiking. I ended up not being able to hike because we couldn’t find my husband’s wallet in time, but it’s okay, we’re rescheduling. Anyways, my hair is so long now! This may be short to some people, but it’s pretty long for me!

This is how short my hair used to be in Spring 2014. I had a lot of highlight and lowlights then! Now I just have super grown out highlights that make me look like I have an ombre, but I kind of like it. It’s weird for me to go to the salon and only get a trim, I generally change something about my hair every time I go! Such as cutting it shorter, getting more highlights or lowlights added in, adding bangs, layers, etc. I’ve never really died my hair unnatural colours before, but I do like changing it up! Lately I’ve been working really hard to grow it out and grow my highlights out to that I can do something to my hair later…partially because the salon is expensive and my husband doesn’t like change haha, but I’m thinking about adding side swept bangs or a little bit more of an ombre. What do you think??

Above are some other ways I’ve had my hair, none of the pictures are very good because some of them are pretty old! But I’ve had my friends cut my hair before, went to salons to have my hair cut and highlighted, had friends dye my hair (top right), etc. I was never really worried about how my hair turned out because I knew I could just grow it back and that I was going to change it up soon anyways. Recently the number one thing I’ve been focused on is making it long, strong, and healthy! And maybe a little bit thicker…that would be nice haha. At Reflections they were using and selling Kenra products and I loved how soft my hair was so I decided to buy two!

I bought the Perfect Blowout Light Hold Styling Creme and Daily Provision Leave-in Conditioner. The styling creme was $17 and the leave-in conditioner was $15, which is a little more expensive than what I normally spend on hair products, but I figured they’d be worth it! I’m excited to continue using them and see if I can replicate my Salon results!

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed this post! Comment down below whether or not you like to change up your hair a lot and what you’ve done with it! Also, don’t forget to like and subscribe if you’d like to see more posts like this 🙂

My #1 Eyeshadow & Liner Hack

Hello cuties! SO, I used to never do my eyeshadow because I had absolutely no idea how. However, I’ve been getting more and more interested and excited about it! I remembered hearing about something a while ago that I really wanted to try out, so I tried it out one random day when I wasn’t going to leave the house and ended up loving it. This has now become my favorite way to do my eyeshadow and I don’t understand why I waited so long to try it. Not only does it make me excited to do my eyeshadow, but it makes me excited to do my liner! I love liner, especially winged liner, but I haven’t been doing it lately because I suck at making sharp wings and they’re never even close to being symmetrical. If you want to know what my eyeshadow hack is, keep on reading!!

Photo taken off my Instagram: rambo_kisses

The hack I am talking about it using tape to create sharp lines.

I’m pretty sure this has been popular for a long time now, but I just recently jumped on this bandwagon and love it. I used to do my eyeshadow last, but since I’m sticking tape on my face to achieve this look I have do my eye makeup first. I’ve been playing around with this technique for the past couple of days and I’ve learned a couple of things that really help me love my eyeshadow.

  1. Stick the tape on your hand first, then move it to your eye. You may need to do this a couple of times depending on how sticky your tape is, but it helps decrease the amount of stickiness so that it doesn’t damage your delicate under eye area.
  2. Create the wing part of your eyeliner with the tape on, then take off the tape the finish the liner on your lid.
  3. Make sure you have both pieces of tape on before you start and that they’re symmetrical! I still haven’t mastered this because my eyes are slightly different shapes, but you definitely get better with practice!
  4. Use longer pieces of tape. If your tape is too short then you may not get you may not be able to bring your eyeshadow as high up as you want.
  5. If you want your eyeshadow to look extra sharp, build up the darkest colours in the outer corners, that way you have the greatest contrast from shadow to skin. You can also run a concealer along the edge of it to make it look extra sharp.
  6. Make sure not to get the tape on your lashes. It probably won’t get on your upper lashes, but you’ll have to pay special attention to your lower lashes when you apply the tape if you don’t want to end up pulling out or tugging on eyelashes when you remove the tape!
  7. If it gets too close to your lower lash line then it’s incredibly uncomfortable, so play around with the position of your tape before you start!

Where I place my tape!

I hope that these tips and tricks help you out! Here are two other looks I did using this technique:

These looks are pretty similar because I tend to cling to colours and styles I’m comfortable with when trying out a different technique, but they are slightly different! I definitely think I get better the more I practice, so I’m excited to keep trying this out out and see what I can create!

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoy this post and that it helped you out! Let me know in the comments below what you think of this and if you’ve tried it out or are going to! And don’t forget to Like and Subscribe if you’d like to see more 🙂

Wet n Wild Nail Polish!

Hey cuties! So, I used to paint my nails all the time. However, they were also really thin, dry, and peeled a lot, so I stopped painting them in hopes of them becoming strong and healthy. I never quite established strong, but they’ve been healthy enough lately to grow out really long, so I decided I was going to paint them again. While I was at Walmart I saw these Wet n Wild nail polishes and I had heard some pretty good things about them, so I had to try them out! The megalast nail polish was around $2.40 and the wildshine polish was only 98 cents! I figured that even if these didn’t work out I couldn’t complain about the price.

I bought the wet n wild megalast salon nail colour in “Undercover” and love it! I’ve always really like pink nail polishes but I think this is one of my favorite shades! The brush is really wide is it covers my nails pretty quickly and the formula is smooth and very opaque! I only needed one coat of colour on my nails which was awesome because I usually need two coats.

THEN I bought the wet n wild wildshine matte top coat! I’ve never had a matte polish or top coat before so I was super excited to try this one out and I really love the look and feel of matte nails. I feel like this made my nails feel really smooth and I accidentally poked one of my nails with something before it finished drying and the mess-up wasn’t noticeable at all due to the matte top coat, which was awesome.

This is what my nails look like now and I really enjoy them! They aren’t super exciting or artistic, but this is probably the first time I’ve painted my nails in months so I decided to ease into it haha. I painted them last night and I’m still afraid of bumping them on something or messing them up somehow, so I’ll have to take it slow. I’ll make sure to keep you updated on whether or not these formulas hold up and how long they last!
